The Remarkable Pfaff (again)

Well, I did it. I sort of did it. I nearly did it. No wait, I did something.

You know, I forgot the most important thing when I decided I wanted that big Pfaff. I forgot to pray. In my life, prayer is a big thing. It's the way I know what to do and what not to do. And I didn't pray about this Pfaff.

So confused, I didn't even think about praying. I didn't know I didn't pray. I just kept waiting for the money to come, so I could go get that big Pfaff. The yummy one. And one day it hit me... I didn't pray about it!

And so I did. I felt that the big Pfaff was not for me. Well, not right now anyway. I took a look at the previous top of the line machine, the 2170. This top machine also embroiders, but a much smaller field of course. Re-hooping is a must. Those of you who embroider know exactly what I mean. For those who don't, it means that part of the design embroiders, and then you take the fabric out of the hoop and "re-hoop" and start the machine again. This is scary because maybe you didn't quite line it up right, and everyone will see that it doesn't go together right. But if you did it correctly, no one will know!

Once I prayed about the whole thing and decided to get the 2170--the money was there within a few days. I found a good deal on eBay and got it with a $2000 savings over my top notch sewing store.

I can hear you now... ah yes, but NOT a new one... Wrong! It's new! And my friend bought my Janome (goodby old friend) so we are two happy people. My new Pfaff is just great, does good embroidery, has the same spiffy stitches as the current new model.

Yep, in a couple of years I'll be looking (and praying) about the new Creative Vision, or its replacement, I already know that. But for now.... yep, I'm a Pfaffie, and proud of it!

ever,

Finally getting to the quilt

My daughter is putting the thumb screws to me.

She wants her quilt.

Now mind you, the Other Daughter.. well HER quilt is stuck in the Netherworld (lovingly called The Closet) because I hit a snag with it. And SHE never mentions it.

But this here daughter, she's the baby.

You know how they are.

So I started tonight.

First I decided not to use my Janome, but will serge the whole thing. So I managed... don't ask how... to get it out from behind and around and through.. and dusted it off, did a trial run. Not up to specs. It runs fine but the stitch was a bit of a pucker. Unplug. Move.

Out comes the Brother PQ1500. This is a real workhorse. I also had it behind and over... had nick nacks on it for goodness sakes. Dusted it too and polished it up, had to get the book out because it had been tooooooo long!

And so I started. Just a simple thing. This quilt is for the guest room. My daughter has applied to be a foster parent. So the quilt must be equally suitable for boy or girl.

Last time she was in town, we went to Joann's and fabric shopped. Got the fabric. There it sat. Too much text messaging here. So I decided to use simple 8" blocks with no sashing. And my friend will do an all over stipple for me, it will look nice. And I can get backing with a faint design, then it can be reversible. That sounds good.

Got a few blocks together and it didn't take much to see that I will be hunting for additional fabric, cause I didn't get enough! sigh.

Our dog-person Nikki gives it her stamp of approval.

So guess where I'll be tomorrow? Yuh. Joann's. They'll be glad to see me. I do a lot of selling for them while I'm there, just making suggestions to this stranger or that... oh, you know how it is!!

Later, y'all

Our quilt wings its way to Saskatchewan

My yahoo group sent in blocks and I put them all together for Jodie of JDSClipart. Her little cutie, Izzy, is seen here enjoying her quilts and diaper bag. Isn't she something? A real live doll.
Why can't everyone do something like this? Are you in a group in the neighborhood or on the internet? Round up some people and have them send in blocks. People LOVE to do this stuff.
Put them together like I did and then finish off the quilt. It brings a lot of joy into someone's life. I have a luv quilt myself that I received from an internet group. To say it's special is a total understatement.
Life is short. Make a difference in someone's life.
Think about it.

Welcome to my little cyber space in the digiworld

Welcome to my little place in the universe. I'm just an average Jane, got my own little website where I offer digitized embroidery designs... and my group site with a nice number of members.
So why a blog?
You tell me! What's the big deal about blogs? Who cares what a stranger thinks? Who cares what I think?
Well, maybe someone does. Or maybe you just need a smile every now and then.
What's my focus?

SEWING!
MACHINE EMBROIDERY!
TRICKS OF THE TRADE!
and other musings.
What about the Dreaded Netherworld... CLUTTER!
Excuse me while I go gag.

Speaking of clutter. Where does all the space go? When I got this house, I loved how BIG my room was!! Now it's MINISCULE! Okay. I have unfinished projects, lovingly called UFOs... several block of the month sets that I just had to have and I knew that I would certainly finish them. NOT.
You know that darling fabric that shouted out BUY ME!!! Yuh, I bought it and it's sitting there and goodness knows what I'll make with it.
I got this brilliant idea. Go to Goodwill and get jeans to make a rag edge quilt. The day I went, jeans were fifty cents each. I got the 12 largest sizes I could find that were in good shape. I haven't even cut them yet. BUT THEY'RE THERE IF I EVER DECIDE TO.
Now I am to the point where my books are taking over. My friend Cora, who tells it like it is, even ruthlessly.. says "But do you need it?" So I went to half.com and found out that some of the books I was going to get rid of were selling for over $100 each. So nix on that idea, Cora. Then she came up with a really good idea. Make bookshelves under the window. She said her father used those glass cubes for the spacers and boards for the shelves. This is workable. So this is my project. As I look at the area lovingly called "the floor" but in truth is "the books" I can see them all orderly in fancy boxes on my new shelves. First I have to price the glass spacers. I suspect they are not cheap. And so maybe they will be something other than that, but they will be SOMETHING... and I'll actually see my floor again. The good side of this is that the carpet looks like new under those books. Yes!
I'll keep you posted on this project.
